Over 3 years ago, I left to go to India for 2 weeks with a group of friends. That trip is one that changed my life and a place I would go back to. Thank you to Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston for giving me that opportunity💯.”
Empathy – It is important to be able to relate to those different from you, to have the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. We work to provide opportunities for teens to gain new perspectives and different ways to look at the world.
Perseverance – Future success is determined by the ability to achieve something despite difficulties. Hard work and continued effort can pay off. These programs will both challenge and support participants to be the best versions of themselves despite any obstacles in their way.
Experiential – Most people learn best from doing. This learning is maximized when accompanied by intentional reflection on experiences. We strive to provide a variety of hands-on learning opportunities throughout these programs.
Community – These programs are about building and strengthening community. We seek to foster and nurture human connection both locally and globally. Relationships are a very important part of a successful life and we seek to continuously deepen the quality of our relationships with partners and alumni.
A global citizen has the skills, knowledge, and values to be able to live well with people in their local community, their nation and globally.
What are Experiential Travel Programs?
These opportunities prepare youth to become responsible and engaged global citizens who can succeed in a global workforce. Teens spend one year in the program which includes 30+ pre-trip workshops, a two-week adventure to a unique destination and 3 post-trip meetings. Upon completion of the program, teens join our growing alumni network composed of over 250 people.
Each of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s core areas, Academic and Life Success, Healthy Development, and Character and Community are fully integrated into the pre-trip workshops and trip activities.
